(NOTE: Duplicate entries cannot be submitted in both divisions; for example, the same photograph cannot be entered in both the Fine Arts AND Design divisions.)
*DIVISIONS: This competition is comprised of two divisions: Fine Arts and Design. Each division has its own juror; students may enter work in one or both divisions.
SPECIFICATIONS: All work must be ready for display. This does not mean that work needs to be framed. No wet paint or other wet media will be accepted.
Installation artists are encouraged to provide slides with submitted work so that correct installation can be assured. Please consider size and scale as exhibition space is limited.
Performance artists should provide a jump drive of their full-length performance. Public performance during the exhibition is optional, however the artist must make his or her own arrangements for space. Video artists and film, installation, or performance artists who choose to use video may want to cue the video tape to the optimum point of the work as it is to the discretion of the juror whether or not to view the entire video. Only video files on jump drives will be accepted. Performance artists should contact the gallery staff to discuss the viewing possibilities.
RETURN OF WORKS:Non-accepted works must be picked up between 2 – 5:30PM ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26th
All accepted entries must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit and picked up from 2-5 on Thursday, March 12 and 10 AM – 5PM on Friday, March 13. Entries not picked up during this time will be discarded at the gallery’s discretion. This is the Thursday and Friday before Spring Break, if you are not here, please make arrangements to have your work picked up for you.
LIABILITY:While reasonable care will be given to works submitted, all works will be handled and exhibited at the artist’s risk. Decisions regarding the installation and design of the exhibition by the Student Art Competition are absolute.
SALES: Sales are encouraged, and no commission is retained by the Ewing Gallery. It is suggested that a price or NFS be indicated. “Price Available Upon Request” is highly discouraged as the work may be eliminated from potential purchase prizes and/or sales.
* The Fine Arts division would include painting, watercolor, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, fiber arts, photography, ceramics, video/film, etc. The Design division would include graphic design, illustration, computer graphics, photography, architecture rendering, etc. Series artwork may be accepted only in part according to the juror’s discretion (must be indicated on entry application form).
